
SISTER KATHLEEN DORMAN, SC, (formerly Sister Mary Berenice), age 77, died at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in Greensburg, on Sunday, March 3, 2013. Born in Pittsburgh, Sister Kathleen entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1953, from Saint Luke Parish, Carnegie. Preceded in death by her parents, William P. and Estella (Moorehead) Dorman, a brother, Matthew J. and two sisters, Rose M. Woleslagle, and Betty Byrne, she is survived by nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Seton Hill University and a master’s degree in early childhood education from Long Beach State University, CA. Sister Kathleen taught students at the primary level in schools of the dioceses of Altoona-Johnstown, Greensburg, Pittsburgh, and the Archdiocese of Washington. Her longest tenure was at Saint Pancratius Parish, Lakewood, CA where she ministered for twenty-five years. Beginning in 2001, she served in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona, in school settings and parish ministry until she retired in 2011. In reflecting on her life as a Sister of Charity, Sister Kathleen said, “Religious life is my whole life. To me, religious life means giving myself to the people with whom I work and with whom I live. I like to serve people, and religious life helps me to serve them in God’s name.”
