Sister Patricia Laffey was recently named Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for the Department for Catholic Schools of the Roman Catholic Dioceses of Pittsburgh. Sister Patricia has been a Catholic educator since 1963. She taught at seven elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school in the Dioceses of Greensburg and Pittsburgh and the Archdioceses of Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD. From 1980 to 2011, Sister Patricia served as principal at schools that included Saint Agnes School, Seton La-Salle High School, and Sacred Heart Elementary School, all in Pittsburgh, as well as Saint Paul School and Greensburg Catholic Middle School, both in Greensburg. At the 2005 National Catholic Education Association convention, she accepted the Catholic Identity Award on behalf of Sacred Heart School for its work in promoting a vibrant, loving, and dynamic Catholic identity.
Most recently, Sister Patricia has served as an Educational Consultant for the Diocese of Pittsburgh for the past four years. Throughout her years of ministry, she has enjoyed success in organizing school programs to optimize opportunities for the students to learn and the staff to develop.
