Sisters Challenge Community to Donate to Westmoreland County Food Bank in Recognition of National Catholic Sisters Week
March 8 - 14, 2021
In celebration of Nation Catholic Sisters Week, Provinicial Superior, Sister Catherine Meinert and the United States Provincial Council have challenged members of the congregation to donate money to the Westmoreland County Food Bank. In return, the Province will match the funds donated directly from the Sisters. This challenge is to encourage donations to help feed those in need in the local community.
In the United States, 54 million people are food insecure and often go to bed hungry. The Westmoreland County Food Bank locally serves those who are insecure in our community, serving an average of over 18,500 people a month.
This multi-service food and nutrition service agency provides a plethora of programs to assist individuals and families who are food insecure throughout Westmoreland County. The core program serves to meet the nutritional and basic needs of the insecure population in the county. There has been an increase in need as a result of the pandemic, with a growing call for assistance.
This sisters are reaching out to their extended community to make a donation directly to the food bank in honor of National Catholic Sisters Week and the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill. Together, the monies raised will directly assist those with food insecurities.
