Motherhouse
Caritas ChristiCaritas Christi, the Motherhouse
Our motherhouse, named Caritas Christi, which means “The Charity of Christ” in Latin, is the residence for the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill and was dedicated in 1999. The building houses retired Sisters of Charity and those who require health and wellness care. All sisters are invited to attend community gatherings, provincial meetings, and various celebrations at the motherhouse. The facility includes the Chapel of the Assumption, Eveline Fisher Dining Room, McCullough Meeting Room, Fidelis Conference Room, Heritage Museum Room and Archives, Gift Shop, Wellness Center and Therapy Pool, and Activity Room.
Chapel of the Assumption
The Chapel of the Assumption embodies unparalleled beauty and grandeur at Caritas Christi. You can feel tranquility and serenity permeating the air when you step inside. The chapel’s open space provides an ideal setting for prayer and contemplation, allowing sisters to gather and seek solace amidst nature’s stunning beauty.
The chapel’s glass windows are a testament to the artistic brilliance of Sister Mary Francis Irvin, SC. In 1950, she designed the panels for the chapel windows at Assumption Hall. The windows were later removed and stored with great care when Assumption Hall was demolished. These windows hold a special place in our history, and when the Caritas Christi chapel was built, they were restored and integrated into the window design. This reminder of our past further enhances the chapel’s beauty.
