Mary House is a comfortable three-story white brick home near Saint Mary Nativity Church and close to the St. Vincent DePaul Store in Uniontown. It comfortably accommodates women offering private and common areas shared by all residents. Residents share a lifestyle within a supportive spiritual environment.
Residents of Mary House become interdependent and successful through a transitional program marked by simplicity and charity. Proximity to the St. Vincent DePaul Store in Uniontown provides opportunities for volunteer training and regular service, counseling, techniques of budgeting, Bible study, and workshops in self-discovery and personal growth.
Two Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill share community life with the residents and assist them with their transition. There is a good mix of privacy and shared lifestyle at Mary House. Residents share responsibilities for meal preparation and housekeeping duties and gather for prayer and the main meal each day.
There are many programs offered at Mary House to encourage personal growth. Aside from the community living which instills a care and respect for everyone in the home, residents are taught housekeeping and money management skills and are continually encouraged to attain their personal goals. A full or part-time job and/or volunteer service is required to aide in the success and development of each Mary House resident.
Each member of Mary House contributes to the rent, utilities, food, and items bought for common use. Depending on an individual’s ability to contribute and the practice of wise stewardship by all, Mary House will become a model of community living.
Generous donations and grants provide additional funds for support of this mission.
