Mission Statement

The Archives of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill has as its mission the documentation of the history and charism of the congregation in relation to

    • Founders and Patrons
    • Membership
    • Community Life
    • Governance/Administration
    • Temporalities
    • Apostolic Ministries
      • Education
      • Religious Education
      • Evangelization
      • Health Care
      • Social Service
      • Pastoral Ministry
      • Diversified Ministries

By appropriate preservation of the records of the Congregation, the Archives contributes also to

  • the history of the Church in the United States, especially those dioceses in which the Sisters of Charity serve or have served;
  • the history of women religious in the United States;
  • the history of the Church in other countries where the Sisters of Charity serve or have served: Korea, China, Israel, et al.;
  • local history in the State of Pennsylvania, where the mother house of the Congregation is located, and in other places where the Sisters of Charity reside and serve.

The Archives of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill adheres to standards established by the Society of American Archivists and aims to provide access to its collections to the general public.

The Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill reserves the right to restrict access to certain categories of records from public use due to privacy concerns or condition.
